GIAN CARLO MENOTTI'S THE MEDIUM & THE TELEPHONE

In the tragic opera, The Medium, a fake psychic becomes the victim of her own fraudulent voices. In the comic opera, The Telephone, a young woman, distracted by her cell phone, nearly misses out on love.
Performances are on Friday, June 2 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, June 3 at 5:00 p.m. at the Warren Enters Theatre, Upton Hall on the SUNY Buffalo State University campus, 1300 Elmwood Avenue, Buffalo, NY 14222. We will precede the Friday performance with a PRIDE MONTH TALK AT 6:45 p.m. featuring Stratton Rawson and Marty Wimmer, former hosts of Tuesday Night Opera on WNED Classical, and Dr. Robert Strauss, Director of the Buffalo Gay Men's Chorus. The talk will center on Menotti's life, music, and experience as an "out" gay composer in the 20th Century.
The Medium cast, directed by Joseph Spann, includes Kate Fruchterman, AJ Govenettio, Gabrielle LaBare, Andrea Bickford, Daniel Kamalic, and Joelle Lachance. The Telephone cast includes Julia Anne Cordani and Christopher Wagner. Nick DelBello, who serves as Interim Artistic Director, will conduct. David King is Set Designer, Harry Mandris is Lighting Designer, and Jenna Damberger is Costume Designer.
Service Fee
The Buffalo State Performing Arts Center charges a 10% per ticket service charge for events. This fee will be added to the ticket price at the time of order.
